Microsoft works problem?

For some reason, my computer came with microsoft office small business and the product key is for home edition and it isn't receiving the home edition key product it came with. Where can i download the free trial of xp home edition and will that work with the key i was given?

The key for the operating system is different from the key for the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, etc).

If you need to install the operating system, your key isn't working, and you have the proof of purchase, call Microsoft and they can give you a functional key.

If your problem is installing a version of Microsoft Office on the computer with a functional operating system, the answer is the same as above, but be clear on what you are asking before you call Microsoft.

The product key on most computers is to link the program with the specific user. If the product key doesn't work then your generally out of luck. Contact the place to which you purchased your computer and or Microsoft to get a new key. You'll probably have to brandish proof of purchase. ----- Or you can get a friend with the same running system to let you use their key if they have the same programs. Keep in mind 1 program 1 key..... Microsoft works = 1 key......Microsoft Suite = 1 key etc....
