Legally, you can only use it on one computer. Illegally, it can go on ad-infinitum. Microsoft has no way of knowing you are pirating it until you give the key to someone else, and it spreads on the internet. Even then, it would only prevent you from receiving updates.

Depending upon your purchase, most probably if it's a single license purchase, then ONE COMPUTER only.
Microsoft will force you to activate the product either online or via telephone. They will activate this on one machine only.
However, if your have a MSDN or corporate key, then you can get it activated on multiple machines.
Note the activation question is asked when you first start using any feature like Word or Excel and not while you install the product, so don't be mis-led.
There is no limit ... but its illegal to use on more than one pc ..
