Under ''Select printer'' I now have Microsoft XPS document listed along with my Epson printer icon. What is this?
That should be the Windows default printer. Its for post script printing, but we dont use it anyway. Select your Epson printer as the default printer would do.
XPS files are files from Excel.
My computer came with MS Office and when I looked for MS Word there was only this cheap version of software called MS Office OneNote. (What cheapskates Microsoft are becoming). Anyway, I installed MS Word and Excel and this OneNote software is redundent and taking up to much valuable space. I need to know if just I delete it, will I loose some DLL files that are needed to run MS Office.
You should be able to safely remove OneNote using ''add/remove programs'' in Control Panel. On mine, it's listed as Microsoft Office OneNote 2003. It was not meant to be a replacement for Word, though. It's for creative note taking and organizing thoughts.
If you go to add/remove programs you should be able to reconfigure the office installation to only have what you want.
If you remove one note it shouldn't affect word and excel, any dll files that are registered for another application are usually left or it warns you that they are shared
Why do you not load Openoffice from openoffice.org does all that for free.
Microsoft OneNote is more intended to be used for handwritting recognition and on Tablet PC's.
Go into the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs to remove MS OneNote.
You can uninstall One Note But just run the setup program and follow the instructions when it will ask you to select the programs you like to install just select what you want and unselect the rest and the setup will continue and finalise your setting in that way you wont loose any other files.

I keeping getting a message that says[DiscUpMar.exe-common language debugger]APPLICATION HAS GENERATED AN EXCEPTION THAT COULD NOT BE HANDLED,PRECESS ID=0X4AC[1196],THREADID 0X4A8[1192] CLICK OK TO TERMINATE THE APPLICATION,CLICK CANCEL TO DEBUG THE APPLICATION, when you click cancel it says[Discupdmgr.exe-no debugger found[JIT debugger] this will not let me into my favorite program,does Anyone know how or where to find and get rid of this?It seems like I've tried almost every thing.please help if you can.THANK YOU[it also won't let me into HP game

Someone has sent me a document in Microsoft Publisher. I haven't got Publisher!!!! Can I open it in Word, or is there another way?

Nope, you will need them to send it as a PDF else you will need to source as copy of Publisher.
I seem to remember you can import it into CorelDraw, but then that's not much use if you don;t have COrelDraw either!
No matter whether I view pictures according to their names or dates or whatever, whenever I want to view the slideshow using Microsoft Picture Manager, it never shows pictures in correct order. What's wrong?
Its either if your pictures are of different formats or u have other data in the folder with pictures. I suspect u have windows xp sp1 not sp2.
It can be either of the three.

If you are not particular about the viewer, you can change the file association to ''Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'' (right click on image file name, navigte ''open with-%26gt;choose program'', select ''Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'', and tick/select the ''Always use this program'' option). This viewer displays the images in alphabetical order.
